A cut-out with a few levels and some 3D modelling.
The cut-outs are used for the yellow semi-intertwinements and for the blue face parts. I tried to find fitting angles, so that I could have several photos allowing to piece together an "exploded" face. Not that simple.
The 3D modelling is mainly used for the pliers and hooking cables. I'm not that satisfied of the link between photo and 3D, but then, you have to decree the image finished one day or the other.
Open mask? A previous version (without pliers and cables) is used as a logo for a middleware allowing the creation of simulation, animation, virtual reality... applications named OpenMASK.
Today (July 2006) I prefer ARéVi (the author is Fabrice Harrouet). A-Ré-Vi stands for A-telier de Ré-alité Vi-rtuelle, which is the French for Vi-rtual Re-ality A-telier, and is written in C++. I recommand it to all the inveterate coders. The classes, variables etc... names are in English; no problems for english speakers then.
